CORNISH-REX AND ALLERGY.

Cornish-rex and allergy. Cattery CURL FANTASY. Moscow.

The Cornish Rex attracts a lot of attention for being a hypoallergenic cat. Sorry to upset you, but there is not truly hypoallergenic cats. Cornish Rex really do not molt as much as other cats having guard hairs do. If Cornish Rex sit on your knees or sleeps on your pants – you do not need a vacuum cleaner to go out. But molting does not deals with the allergy in a sense that allergy appears as a reaction, for example, on some kind of albumen, produced by cat’s glands. The speed of allergy reaction depends on the albumen concentration in your room. The hairs is only an instrument by which albumen is spread out the room. As long haired cats leave their hairs in all places of their stay when they molt, they speed up the possible allergy reaction.

I know a family where only one Cornish rex lives and where his owner suffers from allergy. This man can not stay in my flat more then one hour (if I did not clean it before his visit...), but except Cornish rex I keep one long haired cat at home. But this my friend feels fine at his own home.

It is recommended for people having problem with allergy and who want to have Cornish Rex to agree with some breeder to stay a few hours at his cattery. Of course, there can not be other types of animal, including cats. Do what you wanted to do with the Cornish Rex, including petting, snuggling, or kissing.

Also, if you wash your rex monthly, groom it regular and keep cat’s claws clipped can help the allergy situation.

Do not worry if you are not allergy free – of course, it is a pity if you are not able to watch such a beauty at your home, squeeze in your hand its hot, flexible body and drift under endless purr of loving creature. There are other animals – fish, tortoises. To watch these animals is not less interesting and knowledge of how to keep them at home is an art which is not easy to learn.
